The What and Why
Scrolling through long lists of gists and repositories is a major pain in the rear. Like many developers, you probably have dozens or even hundreds of starred repos and gists. Trying to look through them before you start a project is time consuming and cumbersome, because Github throws them all into long, separate lists – one for repos, and one for gists.
GitTags is a tool that allows Github users to tag their gists and repositories, including starred repos and gists! You can also view your tags, along with their respective repos and gists.
It’s easy… Just sign in with Github, and start tagging your favorite projects. Oh, and it’s free!
ToDo List
GitTags will evolve into a more feature-rich solution for managing and organizing your Github repos and gists. Here’s a list of potential features that are in the pipeline:
Repo/Gist Notes – Add internal notes for extra context.
Readme Previews – Quick previews of project readme files.
Filters – Filter your repos and gists by multiple tags, such as “Laravel + React.” (RELEASED January 23, 2020)
Team Tags – Tag repos and gists, and make them available to every member of your team.
